Arts events
Why only read about the arts when you can meet artists and experience the arts for yourself?
Outside my journalism career, I bring artists and art lovers together through cultural events my team and I organise in my capacity as the founding president of Hong Kong Arts Festival’s Young Friends Alumni Association.

Moving Strokes: A dialogue between dance and painting
We are delighted to invite veteran dance artist Alice Ma and artist Pang Jing to jointly present a contemporary dance × improvisational painting workshop.
In this event, Alice will guide participants through the fundamentals of contemporary dance and movement techniques. A large canvas will be laid out on site, inviting you to create spontaneous visual traces through the rhythm of your dance steps—watercolor brushes will be provided—immerse yourself in the dynamic dialogue between movement and paint.💃🏻
Jing will further encourage participants to reflect on their creative process with Alice, exploring the limitless possibilities of body language and interdisciplinary artistic expression. 🎨

Japanese match and noh theatre appreciation workshop
Noh is one of Japan’s oldest and most refined theatre art forms. Seamlessly blending dance, drama and music, it has captivated audiences for centuries with its elegance and depth. 🇯🇵
As a prelude to the upcoming “Noh Theatre + Kyogen Play—School of Hosho and School of Okura-Yamamoto Ke” at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in March, theatre practitioners Melissa Leung and Yolenda Cheng will lead a workshop introducing the essence of noh theatre. Participants will engage in exercises that explore the art form’s distinctive body movements while experiencing mu-shin—the Japanese concept of “no-mind,” a meditative state of heightened awareness. 🎎
Before the noh workshop, attendees can opt to join a 45-minute matcha appreciation session, guided by tea practitioner Yuki Futami. Participants will receive premium matcha powder and learn the art of preparing their own cup of matcha. (Please bring your own bowl for this session.) 🍵
